1> Provide medical facilities to all the people of majuli ( Including all chaporis and remote places)
2> Give proper amount of relief to the affected people without any corruption ..

3> Repair the roads as soon as possible to make a proper communication...
4> Work hard to open all the schools from Up-coming Monday ...

Majuli flood scene improves :

GUWAHATI, Sept 26 – The overall flood situation in Majuli river island has improved and water level of the Brahmaputra is receding at a faster pace providing great relief to the flood-hit islanders.

The flood waters of the Brahmaputra and the Subansiri which entered the island through the breached portion of the Brahmaputra dyke at Sonowal Kachari on September 23 inundated about 90 per cent of the land area of the island.

Sept. 24: The flood scene in Upper Assam worsened today with Majuli in Jorhat district almost submerged. Food and essentials were air dropped in the island and Sadiya subdivision of Tinsukia district.

Assam floods: schools in Majuli closed indefinitely :

All educational institutions in the Majuli island of upper Assam have been closed indefinitely from Monday in view of rising flood waters which have submerged over 70 per cent landmass of the island.

Majuli in Jorhat district, the number of villages submerged by floodwaters has gone up to 77 from three since yesterday, affecting a population of about 60,000.
Majuli sub-divisional officer (civil) Laya Madduri said the situation had turned grim today with floodwaters gushing in and inundating many areas under four panchayats — Luitporia, Ratanpurmiri, Shriram and Ratanpur Gayon — after yesterday’s breach of an embankment at Sonowal Kachari area in upper Majuli....

Even as Assam is being ravaged by the successive waves of floods and erosion of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries, the state’s ambitious plan for setting up an early flood warning system is getting thwarted due to tardy flow of data from the Central Water Commission (CWC).

Meeting About Majuli :

Today a meeting was held in Garamur (Majuli) with the people of Majuli and our minister Mr. Rajib Lochon Pegu. Where a good discussion was held to save Majuli. Everyone made Brahmputra board responsible for the current situation in Majuli. Almost all Satrdhikars and representative of all organization was present there. Finally the meeting decided to give a dead line to Brahmputra board to finish their work. Otherwise Majulians will kick them out form Majuli.

Majuli :


Mājuli or Majoli (Assamese: মাজুলী) is a large river island in the Brahmaputra river, in Assam, India. Mājuli had a total area of 1,256 square kilometres (483 sq mi), but having lost significantly to erosion it has an area of only 421.65 square kilometres (163 sq mi) in 2001.
The island is formed by the Brahmaputra river in the south and the Kherkutia Xuti, an anabranch of the Brahmaputra, joined by the Subansiri River in the north. Mājuli island is accessible by ferries from the City of Jorhat. The island is about 200 kilometres east from the state's largest city —Guwahati. The island was formed due to course changes by the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries, mainly the Lohit. Mājuli is also the abode of the Assamese neo-Vaisnavite culture....

Majuli to pay tribute to Bhupen Hazarika :

Post Bureau, Jorhat (Sept 4): In 1968, the then Assam Sahitya Sabha president Late Ananda Chandra Baruah honoured music maestro Bhupen Hazarika with the title, “Hudhakantha”, at a programme held at Banshi Gopal Natya Mandir in Majuli.
Now, the residents of Majuli, the world’s largest river island, is all set to pay its tribute to the great musician by organising an All-Assam Bhupendra Sangeet Competition at Kamalabari on October 6.

Jorhat, Sept. 3: An agency set up to protect Majuli has initiated a parallel effort to get the coveted World Heritage Site tag for the island.
 The Majuli Cultural  Landscape 
Management Authority, set up under the Majuli Cultural Landscape Region Act 2006, has proposed to seek the status for
