Islanders take divine route to save xatras :

Jorhat, Oct. 27: Dakhinpat Xatra, one of the oldest xatras in Majuli, has come forward to help save the island from erosion with the xatradhikar offering bhog to the Brahmaputra at a 

function held on the bank at Bengenawati-Bhogpur, one of the worst affected by erosion.

Eye care centre gift for Majuli - First unit to open on Sunday :

Visionary effort

Jorhat, Oct. 19: An eye-screening centre will be set up at Majuli on Sunday under a project initiated by the Jorhat-based Phanidhar Bordoloi Memorial Trust to offer free treatment to the people of the island.

Vision Centre is being set up at Kamalabari Chariali, the commercial centre of the island.
